This is the shocking moment a violent mugger brutally battered a elderly veteran in an unprovoked attack.
Police are reportedly still looking for the man who was caught on camera beating 67 – year-old Raymond Diaz in an elevator in the Bronx, New York.
Diaz said he left his apartment building on Friday night to get cigarettes. When he returned, his attacker was holding the elevator door for him.
He toldABC 7: ‘I saw someone holding the door, but I didn’t think nothing of it. And I just walked into the elevator. ’
The suspect, who was seen wearing a hood, asked Diaz what floor he was going to – then sucker punched him as he tried to walk out of the elevator.
Diaz said: ‘Somebody knocked me down, I couldn’t get up from the floor. He wouldn’t let me get up from the floor. He kept kicking me and kicking me in my face. Only in my face. ’
The footage shows the man pummeling Diaz as he falls in the corner of the elevator. Diaz can be seen trying to shield himself with a cast on his right arm.

‘He hit me in the face so many times. You know, I have a messed up arm. I couldn’t fight back, ’Diaz said.
Before leaving the elevator, the attacker can be seen using the sleeve of his sweatshirt to wipe his fingerprints from the elevator door frame. Diaz said the man searched his pockets, but did not take anything.
The violent incident reportedly occurred just moments after the building’s security guard stepped outside.
The attack left Diaz with cuts and severe facial bruising. He was taken to J Peters VA Medical Center and is now recovering at home.
Police are asking the public’s help to identify the man, who was seen wearing a black du-rag, blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and fur-lined boots.
Authorities said they man is wanted for robbery, but he will likely be charged with assault as well.
