Man Utd signing backed

Manchester United must sign a target man center-forward in the January transfer window, according to former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson.

“I would say it would be a good choice to have more of a target man center-forward so they can play different ways when they’re playing against teams at home and they’re getting crosses into the box, someone who’s good in the air, ”Robson told ESPN FC.

“ They haven’t got that at the moment, Martial’s not going to win too many balls in the air.

“Rashford scored a great goal with a header ag ainst Newcastle, really good header.

“But it’s all about pace, it’s all about playing on the counter -attack.

“You need to vary your game so another style of forward would help that.

“It didn’t work with Lukaku, he was good with his back to goal, certainly when he was playing for Manchester United.

“He didn’t score the goals they expected him to, he wasn ‘t the link-up man that they expected him to be.

“But that’s the sort of player , but of a higher quality, Manchester United need. But it’s not easy to get one of those. ”

Olivier Giroud back to Arsenal?

Olivier Giroud would be open to a return to Arsenal in January if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was to leave the club, claims transfer expert Ian McGarry.

“Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang’s representatives have made it very clear to Arsenal that their client wants to leave Arsenal in January, ”McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

“Now, that would mean Arsenal are short of a striker. Who do you go for? Oh look, there’s Olivier Giroud over at Chelsea, he’s a former Arsenal player, he knows the team, he knows the club, maybe he would be open to coming back.

“It’s not the biggest stretch of imagination and I understand that Giroud would be open to moving back to Arsenal and staying in London.

“That wouldn’t necessarily affect Chelsea’s interest in Dembele. Dembele’s valued at around € 67 m, they certainly have that money to spend.

“Of course they had no incomings last summer because of the transfer ban which has now been lifted, so Chelsea are willing to spend.

“I believe Lampard would not be averse to letting Giroud going to Arsenal, after all they allowed David Luiz to go there last summer just at the end of the transfer window.

“There’s reasonable relations between the clubs so There is no history that would prevent them selling Giroud to Arsenal.

“He’s going to be cheap, probably around £ 5m, in the last six months of his contract. So I can see Giroud moving south to France or north London. ”
