A masked gang stabbed a man multiple times and attacked him with a metal pole.

It is believed that shortly before 3 . 15 pm on Monday, amasked gangentered a construction site on Headbolt Lane in Towerhill,Kirkbyand approached a man in his 20 s.

The gang of three men, who all had their faces covered, then attacked the victim with a metal scaffolding pole beforestabbing him multiple times.

Merseyside Policeconfirmed that the man was stabbed in the thigh, buttocks and knee before the gang ran from the site.

They are described as “possibly teenagers, all wearing gray tracksuits”.

The attack is being treated as targeted by investigating officers but enquiries are reportedly still ongoing.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and stabbed in Kirkby this afternoon , Monday, 16 September.

“It was reported that just before 3. 15 pm, the victim in his 20 ‘s was approached by three males with their faces covered, one holding a metal bar, thought to be a piece of scaffolding.

“The males entered a construction site on Headbolt Road, and assaulted the victim with a metal bar and stabbed him in the thigh, buttocks and knee, with a small cut to his face.

“The three males made off and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not thought to be life threatening.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances however at this stage, the incident is believed to be a targeted attack.”

” The offenders are described as possibly teenagers, all wearing gray tracksuits. “

A woman, who did not want to be named, told the ECHO, that workmen were sent home from the site, following the incident.
