NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the government over the “ privacy concerns “of the Aarogya Setu app , evoking a strong response from Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad who said the Congress leader spoke a” new lie “daily.

The senior BJP leader said the app is a “powerful companion” which protects people in wake of the Covid – pandemic.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that the Aarogya Setu app is a “sophisticated surveillance system” outsourced to a private operator, raising serious data security and privacy concerns in India.

Prasad while responding to the allegations said the app has a “robust data security” architecture.

Taking a dig at the leader and the Congress party, Prasad added that those “who indulged in surveillance all their lives, won ‘t know how tech can be leveraged for good. ”

“Daily a new lie. Aarogya Setu is a powerful companion which protects people. It has a robust data security architecture. Those who indulged in surveillance all their lives, won’t know how tech can be leveraged for good! ” Prasad said in a tweet.

Clarifying that the app is not outsourced to any private operator, Prasad asked Rahul Gandhi to “stop outsourcing” his tweets to his cronies who do not understand India.
