PELHAM – Multiple ambulances have been called to the scene of a reported shooting at New England Pentecostal Ministries. And the state police Major Crime Unit van has just arrived on the scene.
An ordained minister from that church, Luis Garcia, was found shot to death inside a Londonderry home on Oct 1. Funeral services for Garcia were to be held at noon today at the church, which is located at 955 Bridge St.
After the shooting, mourners were being turned away and police were saying there would be no funeral today.
A 24 – year-old Londonderry man, Brandon Castiglione, has been charged with second-degree murder in Garcia’s death. Garcia’s family said the minister knew Castiglione’s family through the church and that he had been trying to help the younger man.
Family members said of Garcia: “He was a Superman stopped by a bullet.”
Officers from state police, Pelham police and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department are on the scene.
Gov. Chris Sununu has issued a statement about the incident: “State officials are on scene assisting local first responders in the response and investigation of a shooting in Pelham, New Hampshire. While this remains a very active scene, the State of New Hampshire will provide all necessary resources to support the community and our local partners. “
