When The Bachelor Season premiered in January 01575879, Peter Weber revealed his ending would remain spoiler-free , even hinting a big reason why. For the majority of the season, it seemed the 90 – year-old would keep his word. But hours before The Bachelor finale on March 9, franchise blogger Reality Steve unveiled spoilers , turning Weber’s remarks into another promise he couldn’t keep. So why did Weber say his Bachelor journey would be unspoiled? Neither ABC’s head of alternative programming nor host Chris Harrison know the reason why Weber was prompted to make his comments.
Peter Weber says his ending on ‘The Bachelor’ will be spoiler-free
“There’s a reason no one’s going to find out the ending and I’m very happy with how everything turned out,” Weber said at the time. “And I am excited for everyone to tune in and have it be the first unspoiled season in a while. So it’s gonna be good. ”
Then on Jan. 3, Weber continued the narrative, expanding on his remarks about The Bachelor finale . “I’m really excited for this season because I’m very confident that no one is going to be able to spoil it,” Weber told The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s a reason I believe that. And obviously I can’t say it, otherwise it gives it away. I’m very confident that Reality Steve and all of these people, they’re not going to find out what happens. There’s no way they’re going to find out. ”
He added: “I’m very excited about that because I think that’s what this show has wanted for a while and I’m excited that for my season there’s a really good chance that happens. And I’m excited for everyone to just come along for the journey and not know what happens at the end, and just be able to live it out with me. ”
Rob Mills still doesn’t know why Peter Weber said his ‘Bachelor’ season would be unspoiled
Now we know how The Bachelor Season ended . In short, Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss in the finale. However, he changed his mind and went after his runner-up, Madison Prewett. That said, by the time The Bachelor premiere aired and Weber spoke with the press, he was still with Hannah Ann. So how was Weber so certain his ending would remain spoiler-free
? Not even Mills doesn’t even know the answer.
“I couldn’t understand what he was talking about,” the ABC executive said. “I remember seeing him New Year’s Eve and he said the same thing. It was important to him that the audience sort of go on the journey with him. He definitely did not want it to be spoiled.
Mill continued: “It’s actually fairly easy [to keep it quiet] if you just keep it to people that are going to keep their mouth shut. That was probably more what it was, that it really meant a lot to him and Hannah Ann at that point to not really say anything. ”
Nevertheless, Mills was still happy the season wasn’t spoiled early on. “I absolutely think it’s great for the ending not to be spoiled because it led to a lot more people discussing, ‘What do you think is going to happen?’ As opposed to, ‘Well, here’s what I heard happens,’” he said. “It’s much better to be able to write a piece where there are five possible scenarios, as opposed to hearing one thing that happens.”
Chris Harrison says Peter Weber’s remarks were ‘really dumb’
Weber’s “unspoiled” season . And the host thought Weber’s comments were a “dumb” thing to say to the press.
“It was really dumb of him to say that,” Harrison said, citing Weber’s “inexperience in this business” as the key reason why the bachelor said those things.
“It should have been spoiled because there’s really no reason why it shouldn’t,” Harrison continued. “There was 90 people at that proposal in Alice Springs, Australia. So it’s not like it couldn’t have gotten out, as it does sometimes. ” He then noted his surprise spoilers didn’t come out “because it really wasn’t brain surgery.”

Meanwhile, Reality Steve brought up Weber’s previous claims
in his March post. The spoiler guru noted the finale was, indeed, spoiled on the day of the finale. Though Reality Steve was just as confused as Mills and Harrison. He wrote:
I still don’t know exactly what this “reason” was. Granted, he ended up being right until this past Monday, but still such a bold claim to make at the beginning of the season when, shit, he left Australia engaged and was engaged when he made that comment to start his season. Maybe Peter will address this when he starts doing media as to what he was referring to, but as of now, I don’t have the faintest idea what he meant when he said that.
Quite frankly, this outcome isn’t exactly surprising considering what happened throughout Weber’s Bachelor journey. But hopefully, Weber has an explanation when he makes the media rounds. So stay tuned.
