Met Office weather forecasters have issued yellow weather warnings for rain from today until Tuesday.

One band of rain will batter the west coast today until 5pm, bringing damage to buildings and causing travel difficulties.

A second band will hit the west coast and midlands from Monday at 3pm to Tuesday at 3pm.

Forecasters warned up to 70 mm (three inches) of rain could fall within 24 hours.

“Through the period, 20 – 40 mm of rain could fall quite widely with perhaps as much as 70 mm over high ground in Wales and northern England.

“With the ground having been left wet by heavy rain in the area this weekend, some flooding is likely. “
