Wonderkid Mason Greenwood revealed how he was scouted by Manchester United after bagging ten goals as a substitute when he was a kid.
Greenwood is edging his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having scored 20 goals in just starts across all competitions. And it appears his talent was evident after recalling the story that first saw him join United’s future stars.
Aged six, Greenwood was a substitute for local Bradford side Idle Juniors when he was introduced into the action.
He revealed on a video on Instagram: “The first time United scouts saw me, I was playing for Idle Juniors. I remember we were losing 2-0 or something.
“And then I came on and I went wild. I scored ten goals. “I used to get the ball run past everyone and just kick it in the net. Sprint back and keep doing it until the whistle went. ”
Greenwood was invited to their development center aged six and the rest was history.
Shaka Hislop has jumped to the defense of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after claims he took a swipe at Jose Mourinho.
The Norwegian boss reflected on his time in charge at Old Trafford and said “a lot needed to be changed” when he took over from Mourinho in December . But Hislop does not think that’s Solskjaer taking a dig at Mourinho.
Hislop told ESPN FC: “I think it’s reflective of the form that Manchester United have found themselves in, the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s going to use this form and this kind of run as a foundation for why he should stay on as manager. “We’ve all speculated about his future come this summer, so you see where it is coming from.
“On the one hand, I don’t think it was needed from Solskjaer, to take this kind of a swipe at Jose Mourinho.
“But again, just kind of being aware of what I believe are the motivations behind it, it maybe shouldn’t be that surprising.”
