ANDY ROBERTSON has heaped praise on Scott McTominay ahead of United’s clash against Liverpool.

According Goal, he said: “He’s been excellent all season in a United team that has had its critics.

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is ready to risk throwing in half-fit Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Martial this week in a desperate bid to save Manchester United’s seaso n.

United take on Liverpool on Sunday with the club having made their worst ever start to a Premier League season with nine points from their opening eight games.

Solskjaer’s ability as manager has started to come under scrutiny with the club without a win in the league since mid-September, amid claims in Italy that Max Allegri is being targeted.

And with key men David de Gea and Paul Pogba missing through injury, the under-pressure boss admits he may have to rush back two other stars even if they can only manage half an hour on the pitch against the leaders.

Solskjaer said: “I can’t tell you 100 per cent [who] is going to be fit as something might happen.

“But hopefully Aaron and Anthony will last the training this week and be available for selection. If it’s for half a game or 30 minutes I don’t know but let’s see where they’re at. ”

MAN UTD are “very close” to agreeing a deal to bring in Massimiliano Allegri to replace under-fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, say reports in Italy.

The Italian chief, 52, is poised to sign a £ 6.5ma-year deal at Old Trafford – with the ex-Juventus boss set to bring a hoard of his old stars with him.

As well as Mario Mandzukic, Allegri is hoping to have former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, who he also brought to Turin, at United.

Allegri has been out of work since leaving Juve this summer – where he was replaced by Maurizio Sarri.

But he could be back in business sooner than expected, thanks to Man Utd’s horror start to 2019 – 20, according to Tuttsport.

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has provided an update on David De Gea and Paul Pogba ahead of the clash against Liverpool.

He said: “David needs a scan. I think he’ll be out. It certainly looked like it anyway, judging on last night, so it’s just one of those things.

“Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard. He came back and played a couple of games, maybe played through the pain barrier.

“He had a scan after the Arsenal game and maybe needed a few weeks’ rest in a boot, so hopefully he won’t be too long, but he won’t make this game, no. ”
