Boris Johnson looks set to wield his new-found power to make sweeping changes to government.

The Prime Minister is said to have plans to shake up the entire shape of some departments now he can stamp his authority with an – seat majority.

And The Sunday Telegraph Reports his top aide will begin examining “radical” civil service reforms – including reviewing the rules on hiring and firing public servants.

In a move likely to alarm Whitehall union reps, it is said to be overseen by Dominic Cummings – who complained in that “almost no one is ever fired” in the c ivil service.

And impartial civil servants could be replaced with external “experts”, the Sunday Times claims.

Meanwhile the emboldened Tory leader is said to be planning a brutal Cabinet reshuffle in February which could oust names includingJacob Rees-Mogg, Trade Secretary Liz Truss and DWP chief Therese Coffey.

An unnamed “senior figure” told the Sunday Times: “It will be pretty big. It will be finding the people who can do the jobs and not worry about media and short-term things.

“We’re drawing up a very detailed and very revolutionary plan and then we are going to implement it.”

None of the plans have yet been confirmed officially but extensive details have been briefed to today’s Sunday newspapers.

According to reports, changes to government could include a new department for borders and immigration to police visas for EU citizens, running outside the Home Office.

The Trade and Business Departments could be merged and theDepartment abolished, with a powerful new role reportedly handed to Cabinet Office ministerMichael Gove.

And the Department for International Development could reportedly be folded into the Foreign Office in a move likely to prompt concerns for the future running of foreign aid.

The BBC also appears to be in the Tory leader’s sights after Andrew Neil’s decision to ’empty-chair’ the PM when he avoided an interview prompted fury.
