Taliban militants killed at least 20 people and wounded 95 more this morning when they detonated a truck full of explosives outside a hospital in Zabul province, southern Afghanistan.

 

The attack is the latest in a series this week after President Trumpdeclared peace talks with the Taliban “dead”. The Taliban are launching attacks on daily basis in advance of national elections on September 28.

 

Those critically injured include several children, women, patients and health workers. Some were carried into the collapsed clinic by people who had come to the hospital to visit relatives; others were sent to hospitals in Kandahar. The death toll was expected to rise as rescue workers and volunteers were still searching for bodies under the wreckage.
