It has been a frustrating season for Lucas Moura so far with limited chances in Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs team.
The hero from the Champions League semi-final win over Ajax back in May has been in and out of the starting XI since the opening day and it has not gone down well with some fans.
Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to go with a midfield diamond has meant that Son Heung-min has got the nod to partner Harry Kane in attack, thus meaning that the 27 – year-old has had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench more often than not.
Brazilian great Rivaldo is not happy with his compatriot’s current situat ion and believes Lucas is “losing importance” in the Spurs team and it will have a big impact on his national team ambitions.
“Lucas Moura is losing importance in the Spurs team once again and I think he is behaving as a real professional, holding on and working normally, “the former Brazil international told Betfair.
” Perhaps if it was another player, we could have a different story, with the player complaining about the manager, after all he did for the team last season.

“This is also bad for Moura’s ambitions with the Brazilian national team.
” If he is not playing at his club, it’s tough to nail down a place in such a competitive national squad with so many good players who are performing well at club level.
“Lucas had a great end of season and already scored in Champions League this season against Olympiakos.
” He should feel frustrated at being used as a star substitute who only plays when the team has problems.
“No one likes to enter in a match when his team is losing 3-0 or 4-1 and miracles, like the one Spurs pulled off against Ajax last season, don’t come every day . “
Lucas was brought on in the 71 st minute during Tuesday’s Champions League hammering against Bayern Munich and he struggled to make an impact as the German team ran riot in the closing stages.
However, Rivaldo believes that the 7-2 scoreline was slightly misleading given how well Spurs started the game.
