Talking about the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal onITV’s Peston, Alexandra Phillips, the Brexit Party MEP for South East England, said now thatBoris Johnson’sis out in the open it smells rather funny. Ms Phillip, the former UKIP Head of Media, is known for her provocative rhetoric and alleged shady dealings, so it was no surprise when the Brexit Party MEP compared to Prime Minister’s Brexit deal to a“piece of cheese left out of the fridge ”.

She said:“ I think a bit like a piece of cheese left out of the fridge, Boris was trying to ram this thing through Parliament so it couldn’t be scrutinised.

“Now it’s out in the open air it’s going to start to honk . ”

At this, Robert Peston burst into laughter, prompting the show’s other guests to break into quiet smiles.

Over the laughs, Ms Phillips attempted to continue though was largely overpowered by Peston’s laugh.

She said: “And now he has to run anelection campaign.

“He has to run an election campaign.”

Fellow guest, Ed Vaizey, former Tory MP, admitted: “I was wondering where you going with the cheese.”

It comes after it was today revealed that Mr Johnson’s claim to have negotiated an entirely new Brexit deal with the EU.

Brussels effectively poured cold water on Mr Johnson’s assertion, and insisted that it never reopened the withdrawal agreement for him.

A spokesperson for the European Commission raised eyebrows on Wednesday insisting that the EU had only clarifiedTheresa May’s Brexit deal, and had not in fact made any alterations.

The claim is at odds with Downing Street’s: that the deal Mr Johnson hopes to get through Parliament is not the same as his predecessors.

Ms May’s deal was rejected three times by MPs.

The Brexit Party also pointed to the fact that theEuropean Court of Justice(ECJ) would still enjoy subjecting the UK to relevant rulings in certain treaty negotiations.

) Under the current agreement, an independent panel would have to refer any issues to EU law and therefore the decision of the ECJ.

The ECJ is the judicial institution of the EU , dealing with disputes between parties.

It ensures that European law is interpreted and applied in the same way in every member state.

This has made leavers, moderat e and hardliners alike, fear that the UK, under it’s current deal, could effectively remain a part of the ECJ’s judiciary.

Earlier this year, after being heavily investigated by Channel 4, the Brexit Party MEP admitted to having secretly worked for Cambridge Analytica on its controversial election campaign in Kenya.

After pressurising journalists to drop the story and initially denying involvement with the organization – that har vested millions of peoples’ Facebook profiles without their consent and used it for political advertising – Ms Phillips admitted that she had worked with the now defunct company.

The case was controversial as the Kenyan election contest was marred by misinformation and fake news spread across the country via the internet and on smartphones.

President Kenyatta’s opponent, Raila Odinga, was smeared with a series of viral videos, including a now infamous one that showed scenes of apocalypse that would ensue should he win.
