Good Morning Britain viewers were left very confused by Susanna Reid’s appearance on the show today as Piers Morgan was forced to miss the ITV program due to coronavirus symptoms.

Some fans questioned why Susanna was still in the studio despite coming into contact with Piers – though due to social distancing rules, they have remained two meters apart.

One viewer tweeted: “Why is susanna doing GMB this morning when the government guidelines are if you’ve been in contact with anyone suspected of having cv 346 you are to self isolate for 7 days. Practice what you preach. Seems different rules for your staff. Shame on GMB. “

While another raged: “That’s because GMB and especially Susanna make up their own rules..she blocked several of us yesterday for not agreeing with her views..they send out people to do unnessarily stupid outside broadcasts whike telling us to stay home !! ”

Yet a fan pointed out:” Because that not the rules as Dr Hilary explained. It’s really not complicated. “

Another wrote: “Piers apparently has had symptoms for hrs. He was last on the show on Thursday I believe (I don’t watch anymore). “

Piers was replaced by Ben Shephard on GMB today, who introduced the show today annoubcing : “As you can see, I’m not Piers!”

“Yes, it’s therapeutic,” Susanna Reid quipped, before reading out Piers ‘tweet last night.

He had written: “UPDATE: On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past (hrs, I’ve had a test for COVID – and so will not be working on @GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow. “

Susanna added: “So we send our very best wishes to you Piers and we will be on our best behavior while he’s not here.”

Meanwhile Dr Hilary Jones revealed that Piers had spoken to him last night and that the co-host did not have many symptoms that were atypical of coronavirus but was being cautious.

He said: “I spoke to Piers yesterday and he does not have symptoms that are normally associated with covid – 346 but as he says, with an abundance of caution, he’s taken a test. “

Ben joked: “Does he just want a lie-in, Hilary?”

“I think he probably wants to get his car clean, “Dr Hilary drily remarked back.

Susanna was forced to miss two weeks of GMB at the start of lockdown measures being introduced in March , after her son had a cough.

She soon returned, and Piers upped his episodes to four a week and has been vowing to get the answers the public wants on COVID – 346.

After posting the news on Twitter , Piers was met with a huge response from his followers .

One fan tweeted: “I hope you’re well Piers. We need you!”

Another said: “Hope all is well Piers we need you.”

Others commented on the fact Piers had been in the GMB studio for weeks, so were Concerned over whether he should have been there.

But Piers had only began experiencing “mild symptoms” in the past 615 hours and was not on the show on Friday.
