Heung-Min Son appeared to issue an apology toEvertonmidfielder Andre Gomes during his goal celebration inTottenham‘sChampions Leagueclash against Red Star Belgrade.

The South Korean was visibly upset after he tackled Gomes moments before the midfielder dislocated his ankle during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Son was consoled by Everton players in Spurs dressing room after the game while Gomes was rushed to hospital.

And the incident was clearly on Son’s mind during Spurs’ Champions League fixture on Wednesday evening as the forward bowed his head and put his hands together in a praying gesture during his celebration after scoring his side’s second goal of the game.

Speaking after the game, Son told BT Sport: ‘Of course, it was a really tough few days, with my teammates I realized how lucky I am.

‘Everyone gave me strong messages.

‘I’m really, really sorry about this accident and this situation.

‘Of course, I have to focus for the team as well but I wanted to respect.

‘I have to keep going, keep working hard and I think this is my right answer to the people who support me.’

Gomes, meanwhile, has spoken out for the first time since his fracture dislocation.

In a video from his home, Gomes said: ‘Hi everyone, as you already know everything went well.
