LEEDS has been hit by riots following reports of a police van that has been set on fire in a residential street.
Residents in Halton Moor report scenes of “utter chaos” during mass unrest that kicked-off this evening. It is to known what sparked the riot but officers have warned people to stand back due to a “riot with people throwing bricks” the other side of a cordon, Leeds Live reports. Police in riot gear have taken to the streets to clam the disturbance that happened at 6pm.
Dozens of police were called to the scene and a large cordon was put up following reports of a group of rioters hurling bricks at officers.
The streets remain packed with people who have ignored police advise to stay in their homes.
Residents have lined the streets to see what is happening.
