BBC Question Time LIVE: Huge clashes expected as Lib Dems and Tories tussle over Brexit – Express, Express.co.uk


The BBC has come under fire once again this week as only one of its five person panel is a Brexiteer. Former Daily Express editor Camilla Tominey is the sole representative, but in another monumental week in politics, huge clashes are expected to erupt. Liberal Democrat Ed Davey joined Ms Tominey on the panel, as does Labor’s Lord Falconer.

The panel is completed by Conservative Victoria Atkins and journalist Ash Sarkar.

They are expected to discuss the current legal battle surrounding the Government, as Prime Minister Boris Johnson is taken to court by activist Gina Miller

Ms Miller argues that Mr Johnson unlawfully

Other topics could include more Conservative defections and problems facing the Lib Dems.

11. 07 pm update: Fiona interrupts a feud between Ed Davey and Lord Falconer

Ed calls the Labor party’s position confused

Lord Falconer says he is talking about his own views

Fiona says: “If you both talk at once, no one can hear!”

11. 05 pm update: Lord Falconer says “we have to deliver Brexit and we have to deliver it with a deal”

Mr Falconer says , “I’m not in favo ur of Mr Johnson posturing about no deal which is pitiful.

“I’m not in favor of Lib Dems wanting to revoke.”

He says he wants to get a deal so the UK can get over Brexit.

He calls the Lib Dems “ridiculous” for wanting to revoke.

11. 04 pm update: Sarkar calls Lord Falconer “bro”

Fiona says this is the first time this has happaned on the panel

11. 02 pm update: Atkins says “Brexit has to be delivered!”

She says she accepts the result of the referendum even though her side “lost”

11 PM update: Audience explodes as Ed Davey says t he Lib Dems are against Brexit

Davey: “A vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to stop Brexit! “

10. 59 pm: Audience member says: “I’m appalled by the Liberal Democrats.”

He calls the party “morally corrupt”.

10. 58 pm: Audience question: “Have the lib dems become the most dangerous and extremist party in Britain?”

Tominey savages Jo Swinson and the Lib Dems.

She says Swinson thinks David Cameron was wrong to call a referendum even though she campaigned for it.

She calls Swinson “neither liberal or democratic. “

10. 56 pm update: Atkins responds with a cutting remark

“I won’t take advice from a Corbynista who calls herself a communist!”

Fiona asks: “So you won’t rule out proroguing? I’m not trying to put you on the spot here! “

Ms Sarkar interrupts:” But this is the opposite of a straight bat! “

10: 50 pm update: MP Ed Davey says he wishes everyone would respect the independence of the judiciary

He says, “our country is in the grip of a crisis and this prime minister has lost every single vote.” )

“I hope the judgement of the voters will be havy on him and he loses all his appeal to you.”

10: 49 pm update: Ash Sarkar says, “if the Prime Minister doesn’t have to abide by the rules then why should any of us?”

She says: “i’m going to burgle my ex-boyfriend’s house.”

10: 47 pm udpate: Audience member asks whether Boris has lost his appeal with the EU

10: 46 pm update: Audience member asks Victoria Atkins about Mr Johnson’s misogyny

10. 45 pm update: Lord Falconer gets into heated debate with audience member who says Boris Johnson has suspended Parliament to get the UK a good deal

Lord Falconer says he is frightened of a view that the prime minister can just shut down Parliament because they don’t agree with him.

“Boris Johnson is saying he saying one thing and then doing another.

10. 44 pm update: Audience member says MPs and the media “haven ‘t given boris johnson one glimmer of hope “

” No wonder he’s suspend parliament to try and get get what the people voted for. ”

10. 40 pm update: Camilla Tominey talks about issues in the press this week and Mr Johnson’s appeal

Ms Tominey said Boris is winning support in some places because people who are trying to stop Brexit are being undemocratic.

“I’m worried the audience is much more behind you than they are behind me.”

10. 35 pm update: Host Fiona Bruce opens the show in Southampton with the first question.

First audience question: “Is Boris Johnson losing his appeal?”

Lord Falconer said Mr Johnson is trying to close down Parliament to avoid Brexit issues.

Lord Falconer says: “I don’t know whether he’s losing his appeal but I hope he is.”
