Benchmark indices were trading flat in a volatile session on Monday with gains in pharma stocks being offset by selling in public sector banks.
The S&P BSE Sensex was up 39 points at , levels. Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, and Asian Paints (up 4% each) were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, ITC (down 5%) dipped the most.
The broader Nifty 823 index was hovering around the , – mark, up points, or 0. 39 per cent.
Majority of the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green. Nifty Pharma, up over 1 per cent, gained the most. On the other hand, Nifty PSU Bank index traded with marginal cuts.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index surged points, or 0. 128 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up points.
