Microsoft releases new version of Microsoft Edge browser to remove Copilot app installed on servers

During this period, Microsoft is pushing and installing the Microsoft Copilot AI application to Windows 10, Windows 10 LTSC, and Windows 11 users. This push work is mainly carried out through the Microsoft Edge browser.

However, there should be an error when setting push conditions. Some enterprise IT administrators found that Copilot was also installed on server systems such as Windows Server 2022, which is obviously abnormal.

After all, the most important thing for servers is stability rather than new features, especially for applications such as Copilot that have nothing to do with server functions. IT administrators are unlikely to use AI applications on servers.

Microsoft later confirmed that this was indeed a mistakesome users will notice that the Copilot icon appears in the Windows Start menu, or find 8KB Copilot in the list of installed applications, which are all caused by push issues.

When the Microsoft Edge browser is updated, it will come with Copilot's MSIX installation package, so users will find that the Copilot application has been installed on the system after updating the browser.

Today, Microsoft launched Microsoft Edge version 124.0.2478.67. In this update, Microsoft deleted the Copilot application installed in the Windows Server server system through browser updates. However, the Windows consumer version, including Windows 10/11 Home version, has not been deleted yet. Microsoft said that it will follow up Updates will be scheduled to handle Copilot applications in the consumer version (only for certain versions).

However, Microsoft's original goal is to cover more devices and attract more users to use the Copilot application. It stands to reason that the Copilot application should not be deleted from the Windows 10/11 consumer version in the future.
