Premier League clubs making plans to restart season on June 13 – Mirror Online, Mirror.co.uk

Premier League clubs are building up to restarting games on the weekend of June .

They are even beginning to tell staff that there are plans to try and start fixtures again as league bosses seek clearance from the Government as part of Project Restart.

Mirror Sport revealed earlier this month that the Premier League’s best case scenario is that training can start in May and then games can begin from June 8.

That date and timeline still remains in place but several clubs now believe fixtures could resume from the second weekend in June if all goes to plan and they get Government support.

The Premier League will meet again on Friday when all clubs expect an update on HOW the games may be played in the coming weeks.

There is still no certainty of WHEN but there is a growing feeling that the Premier League are ready to push ahead with games behind closed doors but also potentially at neutral venues.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden informed MPs last week that he had been having ‘productive talks’ with sporting bodies, including the Premier League.

Clubs want to have a three week pre-season ahead of resuming games, the Premier League’s best case scenario is games resuming from June 8 and there are still more than 100 games left, including the FA Cup.

The Premier League will discuss the testing procedures on Friday as the pressure grows on them to restart and get the games finished to satisfy the TV paymasters.

But Premier League chiefs do not believe any deadline or demand has been set by UEFA to get a plan in place by May It is believed European football’s governing body would like an idea by their next meeting on May But it has not been set in stone.
