SARAH FERGUSON has had a rocky relationship with the Royal Family in the years that followed her divorce from Prince Andrew, but how did one royal cause Fergie heartbreak?
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are still very close, despite having divorced in 1996, even living together in Royal Lodge, Windsor. However, Sarah – known as Fergie – was snubbed from one royal celebration and was left devastated.

Fergie admitted she found this snub difficult to deal with, especially as her ex-husband and their two daughters attended.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in 2011 the Duchess of York revealed it had been “difficult”.
When asked how hurt she felt by her lack of invite, Sarah said: “It was so difficult.

“Because I wanted to be there with my girls… and to be getting them dressed and to go as a family.
“And it was also hard because the last bride up that aisle was me.
“I think what I felt was that I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and that [it] was quite right they didn’t invite me.
“Why would they – why would they invite me? ”

Sarah also admitted it may have been her past discretions which caused her to miss the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
She said: “I felt that I ostracized myself by my behavior, by the past, by living with all the regrets of my mistakes, that I sort of wore a hair shirt and beat myself up most of the day thinking and regretting why did I make such a mistake?
“Why have I made so many mistakes? So I did spend a good three hours on that. ”
Fergie was snapped by paparazzi in 1992 while topless and having her toes sucked by a Texan businessman.

She was also caught in 2010 in an operation set up by a journalist in which Fergie appeared to ask for and accept cash for access to her ex-husband Prince Andrew.
However, Sarah admitted she isn’t bitter about not atte nding Kate and William’s wedding.
Fergie also heaped praise onWilliam, telling Oprah Princess Diana would be “so proud” .
She said: “They did a great job. And I really love the feeling that sort of Diana and I both weren’t there.

“But I’m here to say how proud she would have been and (Kate) *************

Sarah did receive an invite seven years later toMeghan Markleand Prince Harry’s wedding at Windsor Castle.
However, she was again reportedly left “deeply upset” by her lack of invitation to the evening reception at Frogmore House which was hosted b y Prince Charles.
Fergie also reportedly has a strained relationship with Prince Philip who is said to not be able to stand being in the same room as his son’s ex-wife.
A royal source once told The Sun of Philip: “He cannot understand why she’s living under the same roof as Andrew after all these years.”
In 2020, there will be another royal wedding and Sarah will most definitely be in attendance as it is the wedding of her daughter Princess Beatrice.
Beatrice will marry property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi next year, however, not many details are known about the wedding as yet.
It is thought Beatrice will have a more low-key ceremony in comparison to her younger sister Eugenie.
