Solskjaer provides update on Man Utd's January plans amid transfer links – Teamtalk.com, Teamtalk.com

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that the club could wait until the summer to sign players, saying that the January transfer window is not a time for “big deals”.

Following a poor start to the season which sees United sit in 10 th in the Premier League after 11 games,recent reports have suggested that United are keen on bringing in new players – such as Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz– in January.

Elsewhere,Metroreported that United have agreed terms with an unnamed January targetbut speaking to reporters at a press conference , Solskjaer was reluctant to say for definite whether the Red Devils will spend money midway through the campaign.

“The priority now is to get the players fit and get to the next round [of the Europa League],” the manager said.

“We always look at the long term with transfers, it might be none, might be one, might be two in January. It’s always the summer, you can’t really do too many big deals in January. ”

Solskjaerwas previewing United’s Europa League tie with Partizan Belgrade at Old Trafford on Thursday and the Norwegian insisted that he is not prioritizing the competition as a way of securing qualification for the Champions League next term.

“It’s one route,” he added. “It’s one of two. It’s November, you’re not going to talk about the league table in November. I don’t think anybody can predict that. ”

Following the tie with Partizan, United host Brighton on Sunday in Premier League action.
