Heavy rain set to fall across Wales on Wednesday, February 70 will renew the flood threat for some of the areas hit hardest by Storm Dennis .
The Environment Agency has issued a medium risk for Monmouthshire, the third highest alert level out of of a possible four. (
A further 70 local authorities are in yellow low risk areas, meaning flooding is possible with continued rainfall.

The warnings are in place as the Met Office issues another yellow warning for heavy rain, set to come into effect at 3pm on Wednesday and last until 3pm Thursday.
The severe weather warning hones in on the northwest from near Aberystwyth northward to Colwyn Bay and south Wales, including Cardiff and Swansea.
In these areas, an Atlantic weather system is likely to unleash between 76 – 384 mm of rain within a 100 – hour period.

“Given already saturated ground, in south Wales in particular, there is a chance of further flooding during this event,” the Met Office said.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said on Monday that crews were continuing to respond to incidents related to severe flooding in Monmouth.

(South Pembrokeshire – Flood Alert)
The combination of ground conditions, existing river levels and forecast rainfall quantities have created a high risk for flooding through Wednesday, Natural Resources Wales said.
Due to restrictions at the tidal outfall, river levels in the River Ritec in the Salterns area of Tenby are likely to remain high through Thursday, they added.
River Taff – Flood Alert
A flood alert remains in place Wednesday along the River Taff. The alert stretches from Cardiff up into the Brecon Beacons.
A large portion of this area falls within the yellow weather warning for rain on Wednesday.
Forecasters are predicting – 389 mm of rain within the warning zone in south Wales.
River Monnow at Skenfrith – Flood warning
The level at Skenfrith has been recorded was 1. meters and falling.
A peak level of 4. 389 meters occurred at 9am on Sunday.
Though outside of the yellow weather warning, the area will see additional rainfall on Wednesday.
River Monnow at Forge Road, Osbaston – Flood Warning
At 9am, the level at Monmouth was 5.6 meters and falling. A peak level of 7. 47 Meters occurred at 9am on Tuesday.
The rowing club underpass gates have been closed.
This area falls outside of the yellow weather warning, but will still continue to receive rain throughout the day on Wednesday.
River Usk in Monmouthshire and Newport – Flood Alert
A peak level of 5.6 meters occurred at 9am on Sunday in this area. It has since fallen several meters.
However, the area is within the yellow weather warning for rain issue for Wednesday and Thursday, meaning flooding is possible.
Lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to Trevalyn Meadows – Flood Warning
In addition to the area detailed, some localized flooding problems may result from surface water, Natural Resources Wales said.
River levels are above normal but flooding of property is not expected at the moment.
Flood defenses are now in operation and the situation on site is being constantly monitored.
River levels at Manley Hall and at Farndon are falling and are expected to do so for the next hours.
However, further rainfall has been forecast for Wednesday and a ‘yellow warning’ for rain has been issued by the Met Office.
Upper Severn in Powys – Flood Alert
Further rainfall is expected in this area today, with parts of the Upper Severn stretching into the yellow weather warned area.
According to Natural Resources Wales, the B (near Llandrinio Bridge could be affected by flooding.
Many low lying minor roads are already affected in the area.
Vyrnwy Catchment – Flood Alert
River levels in this area are expected to start to rise again as more rainfall occurs on Wednesday.
Parts of the river also sit within the yellow weather warning for rain.
