The Sims 4 is on the cusp of expanding its content sharing capabilities, notably on console platforms.

The Sims. 4 Gallery Feature Heading to Console

The Gallery is a custom content library where players can showcase their creations, whether that be Sims characters, families , houses, lots, and even individual rooms. Other players can then download and use these at their leisure in their respective games, or add them in instantly.

The player content exchange has featured as a fully integrated facet of the PC version of The Sims 4 since launch. Maxis brought the feature to mobile as a companion app in early 2015. While console players have long clamored for The Gallery, it has remained a wish rather than a feasible reality until now.

As we reported over the weekend, one of the most significant factors in the Sims 4’s ongoing success is player-created content, which fuels a vibrant and ever-expanding community of devoted players. In that spirit, it makes sense for Maxis to bring the feature to consoles.

Maxis said of the announcement;

We talk a lot about bringing the community together. When we first set out to do the console port, one of the big goals was we wanted to keep the community together. We want it to be the same game in both cases. And obviously, the lack of Gallery has hurt that comparison. It’s almost the same, but we don’t have that feature. I’m excited to bring that out next year.

Cross-Platform Support

On top of the console version of The Gallery, Maxis revealed it is bringing ‘all of its communities together in the Gallery’ and introducing cross-platform support. The developer explains this will increase the number of people who can access, contribute to, and download Gallery creations.

Maxis stopped short of providing a specific date for The Gallery to hit console other than sometime early next year.
