) Net Weather forecaster Paul Michaelwaite said: “There’ll be a cold, showery flavor to our weather during the next couple of days, so although not settled there’s at least a break from the persistent rain in flood-affected areas.

“Unusually for this winter too, the air is cold enough for many of the showers to be wintry, with some sleet and snow even possible at lower levels and further south during the next hours.

“With the west to northwest wind blowing, it’ll be the west and the north of the country seeing the bulk of and heaviest showers.

“But some will make it further east, and become quite widespread for a time, especially in southern and central England later.

“Between and away from the showers, there’ll be some good sunny spells, although you’ll need some shelter from the wind to feel the benefit.

“Many of the showers will have a wintry flavor to them, at lower levels and in t he south this may be no more than a bit of sleet during the day at least, whereas over the high ground from Wales northwards there’ll be accumulations of snow. “

UK snow radars are picking up a scattering of today as severe weather continues.

The Met Office has laid down warnings for two regions, with potential problems from both snow and ice on the horizon.

According to the Met Office, “wintry showers” ​​will impact much of northern England and Scotland today, causing disruption to rail and road traffic and an increased chance of injuries and accidents.

Their warning reads: “Many areas will be affected by occasional showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow, with clear spells in between leading to frost and icy surfaces.

“Further snow accumulations of 2 to 6cm are expected over parts of Scotland, mainly in the west at elevations above m.

“One to three centimetres may affect higher routes in Northern Ireland and northern England.”

According to WX Charts, parts of Scotland will experience the heaviest amount of snow.

But some parts of the Mid lands and Wales are also forecast to be turned white.

Up to 2cm of snow will fall on Manchester and surrounding areas.

The snowfall will continue southwards towards Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton, where 2cm of snow is expected.
