Wolves and Manchester United will replay their FA Cup third round tie at Old Trafford, After a goalless draw at Molineux.

Wolves almost took the lead inside the opening minutes, but Matt Doherty’s volley from point-blank range was brilliantly turned away by United stand-in stopper Sergio Romero, springing to his left and sticking out a right hand to deny the Irishman.

VAR was called into action just after the half hour mark when Brandon Williams went down in the penalty area after dithering from Leander Dendoncker and a loos e challenge by the Belgian; referee Paul Tierney waited for a verdict from Stockley Park, who decided not to give a spot-kick.

Neto was denied by Romero early in the second period, while Mata beat Ruddy with a fine freekick, only to see it go agonisingly wide of the post.

For much of the night both appeared to be going through the motions, However the introduction of Marcus Rashford immediately spiced things up, with the England striker hitting the bar with his first touch, his effort looping up off the last-ditch challenge from Conor Coady.

Doherty had the ball in the net after minutes, but it was rightly ruled out after he had headed Jonny’s fine cross past Romero via his own arm.

With nine minutes remaining substitute Raul Jimenez slammed the post from an improbable angle, but a game d evoid of real quality ended goalless.
