A Labor parliamentary candidate has claimed she was drugged and raped last year in a “politically motivated” attack.
Emily Owen, who is standing for the party in Aberconwy, north Wales, published a statement on Facebook saying that she had decided to speak out to “raise a very important point” about the abuse that politicians receive.
She said she was inspired byOwen Jones, theGuardiancolumnist,who tweeted last month about being physically assaulted in a “premeditated attack” after leaving a pub in London.
