  • EA announces that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will not include early access or a 10 – hour trial for Access and Origin members.
  • Publishers states avoiding spoilers as the reason behind the decision, but there may be more to it.
  • The news has pushed many Access members to cancel their subscription to the service.
  • EA Access members and EA haters aren’t too happy with Electronic Arts’ latest announcement.

The publisher confirmed late yesterday that upcoming action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order would not include early access or the 10 – hour trial as is customary with launch titles. The 10 – hour trial version won’t be available after launch either. This alsoaffects all tiers of the PC Origin Access subscription.

EA Ostensibly Wants to Avoid Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Spoilers

Thenews was announced via Twitter, with EA stating a desire to reduce to the risk of spoilers as one of the reasons behind the decision. The other reasons aren’t specified, but this hasn’t stopped onlookers from coming up with their own theories.

Chief among these isthe sense that the game isn’t all that good, and EA is trying to mitigate this by pushing players to pre-order or buy the game on launch day.

Others wager the length of the game may have had something to do with the decision. As a narrative single-player adventure, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order looks to be on the shorter side of things.

In an attempt to soften the blow, EA is handing Access members a pretty underwhelming set of exclusive cosmetics. These include a BEE-D-1 skin and a Gold Squadron Stinger Mantis skin.

    A Wave of Cancellations

The news has spurred a wave of EA Access cancellations. For many, the subscription is quite simply no longer worth it. The early access and free trial are widely seen as the main selling point of the service, aside from a 10% discount on purchases.

If EA sets the precedent of picking which games have early access, many feel EA Access loses much of its appeal.

EA doesn’t have the best track record with the Star Wars license, and this latest move doesn’t instill much confidence in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A game that many hoped would be a much-needed return to form.
