In a post on Twitter,Twitchstreamer Pray4Cthulu thanked people for their support, saying that after streaming their pet rock for seven days straight, they had become a Twitch affiliate. To become a Twitch affiliate, a streamer must have 50 followers or more, have 500 minutes total broadcast in 30 days, seven unique broadcast days, and an average of three or more concurrent viewers. Pray4Cthulu was able to achieve all of that and so is now officially a Twitch affiliate.

Some of Pray4Cthulu’s pet rock streams do offer more than just a stream of a rock sitting there, doing nothing. In one clip from the Twitch streams, which has been viewed nearly 8, 000 times, the pet rock does a “flip.”

The flip is just Pray4Cthulu reaching in and turning the rock over. It’s also not as popular as other Twitch moments such asAmouranth’s wardrobe malfunction, but viewers have found it amusing enough to view it thousands of times.

While some aren’t happy about Pray4Cthulu’s new popularity as have said that it violates Twitch’s terms of service, this isn’t the first time that a strange stream has become popular. In 2014, theTwitch Plays Pokemonchannel went viral for allowing players to post messages in chat that controlled the game on the stream. That account now has nearly 400, 000 followers. Another popular channel is FishPlaysStreetFighter which is whereStreet Fighter is controlled by a fish in a fishbowl. That account has more than 12, 000 followers
