Forecasters are running hot and cold with their predictions, warning a sweltering end to the summer will be followed by a brutally cold winter.

Later this month, after the remnants of Hurricane Dorian bring a spell of blustery, wetweather, it is expected to turn hotter than Hawaii in the south of the UK, where temperatures will hit C.

But University College London climate predication experts say the start of 2020 will be one of the coldest in 30 Years.

The scientists, led by Prof Mark Saunders, analized sea temperatures and weather systems over the north Atlantic to make a long-range winter forecast.
